Travelling by bus or train
Newtown Castle is located in County Clare, 2.4 km South of Ballyvaughan village off of the N67 road.
From Dublin, you can take a bus to Galway and then another to Ballyvaughan. It takes around two and a half to three hours to travel from Dublin to Galway via the public Bus Eireann service or either one of the private operators GoBus and City Link.
If travelling by train, have a look at Irish Rail for information on schedules from Dublin to Galway.
From Galway, Ballyvaughan can be reached by bus through the Bus Eireann daily service #350 between Galway city and Ennis. Details and timetables are available from www.buseireann.ie, but please check these regularly as schedules get updated at various times of year.
From Shannon: while there is no direct bus service from Shannon Airport to Ballyvaughan, it is possible to take connecting buses to Galway or Ennis and then on to Ballyvaughan.
From Ennis: Local Link is a local public transport bus service that provides better links between rural transport and national bus and rail services throughout Ireland. It is a great and reliable option for travelling from Ennis to Ballyvaughan. The relevant timetables for the area are the C5 , C7, C8, C11 & C14 serving many towns around the Burren including Ballyvaughan.
